Dog Adoption Process
- Dog adoption fees are $250 – $400 (depending on the dog). All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on shots, de-wormed, and on preventive heartworm & flea medication and have had a dental if needed.
- We do not adopt any of our dogs to a home with unaltered pets (all pets must be spayed/neutered).
- We ask for copies of clinical vet records for current and previous pets for a minimum of the past six years. We like to ensure that our dogs receive proper medical care, including annual vet exams, current vaccinations, preventive heartworm and flea medicine, etc. Please let your vet’s office know we will contact them and give them permission to release information about your pets.
- We ask for three personal references.
- You must own your home or have landlord permission to have a dog.
- A meet and greet is required between the new dog and all prospective family members, including any current animals.
- We typically try to adopt within about a 120-mile radius (or 2 hours) from Evans City, PA. It is our policy to deliver our dogs to their new homes.
- It can take 3 to 6 weeks to complete the adoption process. It depends on how quickly we can get your vet records and have our vet review them. Please allow 7 to 10 days from the time you submit your application to hear from us. We are a tiny rescue group run entirely by volunteers, so we can’t always turn things around as quickly as a more formal shelter.
Application Process
Applying does not guarantee we will choose you and your family to adopt a dog.
Critter Care Adoptions, Inc has the right to refuse adoption for any reason up to and including the day of the scheduled adoption.
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application.
